Entry Requirements
- SQA Highers: BBBB by the end of S5 or BBBBB/ABBB from S4–S6. Standard Grades: A language other than English at Grade 1, English at Grade 3 and Mathematics or an approved science at Grade 3.
- A Levels: BBB. GCSEs: A language other than English at Grade A, English at Grade C and Mathematics or an approved science at Grade C.
- IB: Award of Diploma with 34 points overall and grades 555 in HL subjects. SL: A language other than English at 5, English at 4, and Mathematics or an approved science at 4.
Curriculum
Year 1:
Chinese 1A: pronunciation and structure of modern standard Chinese and enables students to converse on everyday topics; 1B: characters and basic modern texts.
Year 2:
At least 9 months are spent at an approved institution in the People's Republic of China or in another Chinese-speaking part of Asia; students will be expected to follow courses at the University in China and to take the Chinese examinations.
Years 3 & 4:
Selected Chinese texts in literature, philosophy and history; modern spoken and written Chinese; classical Chinese; special subject from the above fields or modern written Japanese.
