Curriculum

You’ll explore ways of improving the organisation and delivery of healthcare in both the UK and abroad. Wherever possible, we’ll encourage you to evaluate the impact of that delivery by researching health projects for yourself.

In your first year, we’ll introduce you to health, management, research and policy concepts. In year two, you’ll explore key principles in management and how to best utilise them to evaluate and improve the quality of health services.

In your final year, as well as having the chance to take a fascinating module on patient safety, you’ll explore more advanced management concepts such as redesigning services, leadership in change management and different methods of healthcare financing.

You’ll undertake a project as part of all this which, if you are already employed, could have a real impact at your workplace.

We’ve designed this course based on the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF). This means that when you graduate you’ll be fully equipped to apply for intermediate operational roles within the NHS and other health service providers.

Foundation Year
If you don’t meet the entry requirements for a bachelor’s degree, you can study this course as an ‘extended’ four-year programme. You’ll begin with a foundation year, which will prepare you for a successful transition to the degree course a year later.
By the end of the degree you’ll gain the same qualification as those obtaining direct entry to the course but you’ll take one year longer to complete your studies.
