Entry Requirements
- A-Levels UCAS Tariff Points Required: 300
- GCSE / Standard grades required: Grade C in five subjects to include Mathematics, English Language and a Science subject.
- Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art & Design, Art, Design & Media) accepted.
- Other equivalent qualifications may be accepted.
- IELTS Score Required: 6.0 (Minimum 5.5 in each component) or acceptable equivalent
- Overseas applicants who will be considered in line with normal entry requirements are welcomed.
Curriculum
Year 1
- Students will be introduced to fundamental tools and ideas that form the basis for the study of architecture. In parallel, the interpretation of themes and conceptual thinking will be established within the year’s overall focus of Form, Space and Light. The Technology and Practice curriculum introduces key technological developments through history, fundamentals of human comfort, lighting and the principles of construction.
Year 2:
- The programme will engage students in two core aspects of architectural thinking: Contextualism and Experimentation. Design tutors offer up particular themes for investigation and the student has the opportunity to choose which project to undertake. Concurrent with design teaching are History and Theory, and Technology and Practice, modules which aim to inform and aid work in the design studio.
Year 3:
- The final year focuses on environment, sustainability and ecology where architecture is seen as emerging from and responding to a holistic context of contemporary cultural and environmental programmatic issues. The year has the obvious vocational aim of equipping students with the skills and knowledge to practice architecture, which are developed through a creative, diverse yet rigorous approach to design project work.
