About Liverpool Hope University

With a history extending more than 170 years, Liverpool Hope has developed a strong tradition of scholarship and research in key disciplines. As the only ecumenical university foundation in Europe the University’s work has been shaped by Christian principles but embraces those of all faiths and none.

The excellent academic record of our students is supported by  pastoral care and, as one of Britain's smaller universities, Liverpool Hope values the individual - in the words of Cardinal Newman knowing her children one by one. Care, concern and support for students are always a priority.

Liverpool Hope has two main teaching campuses. Hope Park is situated in a leafy suburb of Liverpool and is a mini educational village. The Creative Campus in Liverpool city centre is the home to our creative and performing arts subjects. Both campuses have seen major investment over the last five years, so traditional architecture now sits beside contemporary buildings and facilities.

The University places great emphasis on the bringing together of research excellence and top-quality teaching. This is facilitated by a community of academics and scholars who are of the highest calibre. This research-informed teaching enables our students to develop into rounded and employable graduates who can take their place confidently as global citizens in the 21st century.

Accommodation

Private Accommodation

Although we would prefer all our students to live in halls, if you do prefer to live in private accommodation in your second and third year, there is plenty of student accommodation available in the private sector.

There are several things to consider when searching for private rooms, such as who you want to live with and which are would be best for you. If you do think about these things in advance, you can start looking around and decide at leisure which room, hall or house to choose.

Searching for Private Accommodation

There are many private housing agencies both on the high street and online, and it is very difficult to know which are going to be good landlords. We advise you to use Liverpool Student Homes (LSH) which is the official student housing agency supported by the three Liverpool Universities (Liverpool Hope, the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores).  www.liverpoolstudenthomes.org

LSH is the safest place to find accommodation as all the landlords who register with them must agree to the LSH Code of Conduct and supply up-to-date gas and electricity certificates. LSH will also help you to search for accommodation and can offer advice and guidance if you have a dispute with your landlord after moving in.

LSH offers a search service, both at their office and online where reputable landlords advertise properties to rent in Liverpool. You will find adverts for larger student halls, historic buildings, smaller developments and shared houses, both in the city centre and suburbs or Liverpool. The area most popular for Liverpool Hope students is the Wavertree/Smith Down area, where there are hundreds of shared houses, plus local shops and pubs catering for students.

Campus

Your studies at Liverpool Hope will be based at two campuses – Hope Park and the Creative Campus. It is with the beautiful landscaped grounds of these campuses that you will study, live and socialise.

We have invested more than £42 million in buildings and equipment over the past five years and we are proud of our campuses. The stunning architecture and gardens come together to make this a unique place to study.

Hope Park:

  • The campus is situated in a pleasant suburb of Liverpool, just four miles from the city centre.

Creative Campus:

  • The Creative Campus in Liverpool city centre is the home to our creative and performing arts subjects.
