EVOKE: GRADUATION CEREMONY

On 9 December, the Fairmont Hotel was amped up with large exhibition panels featuring graduates’ works from disciplines such as Fashion Design, Interior and Product Design and many more. Top Student awards were also presented to 10 aspiring students from various disciplines.

Laurensia Cindy Angeline, Interior Design Top Student, said "I felt very excited and happy to be awarded as Top Student in Interior Design. This was very unpredictable. Raffles Creative Practitioners really motivated me a lot. They gave me valuable advice to build on my strengths, and constantly encourage me to work harder and never to give up in my studies. That was the reason for me to be able to stand here today, holding the Top Student Award in my hands.”

The highlight of the ceremony was a well-orchestrated fashion show put up by 20 Raffles Fashion Designers. Industry partners such as Daniel Boey, award-winning Fashion Godfather, Harper’s Bazaar and MediaCorp, were enlivened and impressed with the standards, bursting with creativity from the diversity of students’ backgrounds. It was also a joyous occasion for 10 Raffles Fashion Designers whose collections will be retailed at Raffles Privato Paragon. They will soon also get a chance to launch their collections at Paragon Spring/Summer 2015 fashion show.

“I think the featured collections were wonderful. I can see a lot of stories and elements of different backgrounds. I think the designs were inspired by where they come from, especially Asia and also internationally.” said Charina Widjaja, Co-founder and Business Development Director of Digital Fashion Week.

“I think there were some very good points. First of all, you can see a variety. Each individual designer had a very different style. There was also a lot of concept behind each design. I think technically, in general, Raffles students showed really good technical skills, in terms of material, patching, embroidery. The quality of the work itself was really good.” said Rana Wehbe, Editor-in-Chief at Marie France Asia.
