Overseas Links with UniSA Benefit Pharmacy Students

The University of South Australia (UniSA) has been a longstanding partner of Taylor's University, and the Taylor's School of Pharmacy (SoP) has recently entered into a new collaborative agreement with UniSA. This agreement allows for Taylor’s University students to articulate into their School of Pharmacy & Medical Sciences and to complete their studies in Australia. Dr. Shir Ley Tan, the Associate Dean International for the School of Pharmacy, is a graduate of UniSA and also spent many years working in Adelaide before returning to Malaysia. Reflecting on her experience in Australia, she noted that "UniSA offered me an outstanding education opportunity, and this led to a rich and rewarding work life in Adelaide". Given the strong links between Taylor’s University and UniSA, Dr. Desmond Williams, the Programme Director of Pharmaceutical Science at UniSA, was recently an invited 'Guest Lecturer" at the Lakeside Campus. He is a frequent visitor to Malaysia, having visited Malaysia at least 36 times over the years.

While on-campus for two days, he delivered several lectures to Year 1 and Year 2 pharmacy students in the area of drug formulation and delivery, drug stability and factors affecting drug solubility and distribution. Mr. Juan Ospina, who is also from UniSA, came to the Lakeside campus to discuss a proposed study tour to UniSA. Furthermore, Ms. Linda Bastik, the Principal of Lincoln College in Adelaide, also recently came to give a talk to students about life in Adelaide as a study destination, and the accommodation options that are available. Professor Perry Hobson, the PVC for Global Engagement at Taylor's University, recently made a reciprocal visit to UniSA after the Australian International Education Conference (AIEC), and met with Professor Jason White, the Head of School, as well as Dr. Desmond Williams. Taylor's University also looks forward to expanding the links and relationship with UniSA in regards to international research and also to other forms of student mobility. To learn more about the Taylor's School of Pharmacy, please visit the official website.
