The Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) celebrated the successful graduation of 1,252 students of the class of 2023 during the graduation ceremony held over 5 sessions on the 18th and 19th of March, at its Bukit Jalil campus.
Parents, guardians, and visitors packed into the graduation hall to witness the significant moment when the graduates received their parchments.
Among the graduates, 229 also received Degrees from De Montfort University, UK (DMU) as part of the Dual Degree partnership between APU and DMU Dual Degree. Commenting on transnational education efforts across borders, which enhance not just teaching and learning experiences, but also the career prospects of local and international students of APU, Prof. Richard Greene opined, “This is a magnificent achievement of our partnership and a major accomplishment by all graduates.”
“To see more than 200 students in the dual-award programme graduate is exciting. What's more, this has been done through the difficult phase of the pandemic. I see the partnership being strengthened and I am looking forward to coming back in future years to see even more APU-DMU graduates,” he said.
Under the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme, students are awarded separate degree certificates from each institution – one from APU, Malaysia; and another from DMU, UK.

Dr. Richard Cross added, “I think students should have not only the confidence in the industry relevant skills that they developed but also confidence in the international benchmarking of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), UK. They are also supported through our alumni hub where they can interact among themselves and many industry players in Malaysia, beyond Malaysia, as well as in the UK.”
