BSc (Hons) Psychology with Criminology

• GCSE: For all applicants, Grade C or above, or Grade 4 under newly reformed GCSE grading, in English Language, Mathematics and Science, or equivalent.
• A-level subjects: No specific subjects required. Grade B or above in at least one A2 subject. 120 points must come from A2 subjects or equivalent. Points from A-Level General Studies and AS-Level subjects (not taken onto full A-Level) can be included towards overall tariff. You must have a minimum of two A-Levels.
• EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma: No specific subjects required.
• Access: Achievement of the Access to HE Diploma; to include 15 level 3 credits at distinction and 15 level 3 credits at merit.
• Baccalaureate IB: A minimum grade of 6 in a higher level subject.

Foundation year (Year zero)

• From Plato to Nato
• People and Social Science

Year one

You will be introduced to Criminology, covering methods and theoretical approaches along with the structures that constitute the UK criminal justice institution, such as crown and magistrate courts, police services, prisons and young offenders' institutions.

• Introduction to Psychology
• Research Design and Analysis 1
• Introduction to Criminological Theory
• Introduction to Criminal Justice.

Year two

• Research Design and Analysis 2
• Identities in Psychology
• Mind, Brain and Development.

Plus one of the following optional modules:

• Criminal Psychology
• Youth Crime, Youth Justice
• Drugs, Crime and Society
• Transgression.

Final year

You have the opportunity to select from a wide range of specialist topic modules in Psychology and Criminology that suits their interests, while undertaking an independent research project of their choice supervised by a member of the academic staff.
