Entry Requirements

  • To qualify for entry to this programme, students should hold an honours degree at 2:1 level in a relevant field.

Curriculum

There are two semesters with an exit award of a PgD. During the third semester, students will complete a Master's project.

Modules Studied

Design Practice 1

  • Gives the student experience of working in a creative company on a client driven practical project.

Design Management 1

  • Provides students with a professional understanding of how to identify design opportunities, how to develop a design strategy based on customer and market needs and how to gain stakeholder buy in and plan for long term growth.

Etical & Environmental

  • Provides a framework for analysing and evaluating ethical and environmental issues within the context of sustainability, design and creativity.

Design Management 2

  • Intorduces the student to managing design implementation, including planning, and co-ordinating people, stakeholders and the resources necessary to deliver a project on time and within budget.

Design Practice 2

  • Includes another period of work experience in a creative company working on a client-led research based project.

Researching Cultural Sector

  • Covers the main research paradigms currently used in cultural research, provides critical underpinning for the masters project.

Masters Dissertation

  • Will address an appropriate design management issue and will follow the project plan which was developed and assessed as part of the reseaching the cultural sector module.
