Accommodation
There are a range of housing options available for students in Adelaide, including residential colleges, student apartments and private rentals. Torrens does not own or operate its own accommodation facilities. However, the Student Support Office can help you find a housing option that best suits your needs.
- Residential Colleges: Residential Colleges provide safe, furnished, fully catered accommodation with a central focus on the student community. They offer social, recreational and sporting activities which encourage peer networking. In addition, the colleges include academic and pastoral resources to maintain the welfare of the students in their care. Options include:
- Lincoln College
- St Marks College
- St Ann’s College
- Student Apartments: Urbanest offers fully furnished self-contained apartments with shared social spaces. A variety of options are available from large studios to single and twin en-suite rooms in a shared apartment.
- Private Rental: Private accommodation arrangements are subject to a tenancy agreement (lease) and generally require the payment of a security deposit (bond) which is refundable at the end of the tenancy provided that there is no property damage or rent owing. A bond is usually equivalent to 4 weeks of rent. Additional expenses include charges for connecting electricity, telephone and gas, and the costs of furnishing your accommodation.
Campus
The Torrens Building is one of the State's most notable surviving purpose-built Government office buildings. Completed in 1881, it was the largest public building of its period and one of the largest buildings in the city. It is the first building erected on the site and was used continuously for Government Offices for over a century. The building is of architectural significance as the best remaining example of Renaissance Palladian style architecture in Adelaide. The Torrens Building is now home to the International University Precinct in Adelaide.
The precinct is situated in the heritage-listed Torrens Building at Victoria Square in the heart of Adelaide’s central business district.
Adelaide is a quick and easy place to get around, with a bus, train and tram public transport system connecting all parts of the city and suburbs. For further information on public transport timetables, driver's licences, motor vehicle registration and road laws visit Transport SA or Adelaide Metro..
